Volunteer Opportunties

We know that we are stronger when we work together! Our volunteers truly make an impact in our community and with our clients. Whether you are seeking a flexible commitment arrangement or a set schedule each week, A Safe Place has an opportunity for you to be apart of the team. We have opportunities to work in:

  • The Administrative Office (reception, filing, data entry, cleaning, and/or snow shoveling during winter months)

  • The Shelter (cooking, cleaning, landscape work, shopping tasks, and/or providing child-care)

  • Donations & New Beginnings Program (sorting donation items, organizing & maintaining inventory, creating hampers for clients/families etc.)

  • Fundraising (annual Golf Tournament in August, annual Tree of Hope campaign booth in November/December etc.)

We remain eager to welcome practicum students to assist with communications, fund development, policy writing, and/or research.

Join our Board of Directors!

A Safe Place is seeking members of the community to join our Board of Directors. Please email your interest, with subject line “Board of Directors – Volunteer” to hr@asafeplace.ca.

We are currently in the process of recruiting a treasurer to our volunteer Board of Directors.

Given our current Board participation, preference for upcoming Director appointments would be given to candidates demonstrating leadership, expertise, and experience in:

  • Accounting and financial planning particularly with a CPA or equivalent designation.
  • We are seeking interest from individuals that would be willing to serve as Treasurer.
  • Fund development practices, donor and volunteer relations and connections for ongoing and capital fund development.
  • Facility development and property management, and related activities including real estate, contractor and capital management.
  • Public relations, media and marketing strategy, stakeholder engagement,

We are reaching out to a number of Professional Accounting firms based in Sherwood Park, Strathcona County. This is done in hopes of soliciting some interest by individuals capable of fulfilling the Treasurer role. Please assist us by circulating this request. Attached is a broad Director level position description that outlines specific competencies and attributes sought for any of our Board positions.
