We’re hiring a Senior Development Officer!

The Senior Development Officer is a new role, created to help grow a community of supporters through engagement, events, and outreach. Reporting to the Executive Director, the role will be responsible for co-creating and implementing the annual fundraising plan with a focus on raising critical donor revenue.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Implementing the annual fundraising plan with a focus on building an engaged, diversified, and sustainable donor community
  • Strategically and successfully involving the Executive Director, Board of Directors, volunteers, and staff in fundraising opportunities and events
  • Developing and implementing strategies to grow the base of individual donors through prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
  • Meeting with prospects to solicit support and engaging current donors to renew support
  • Building relationships with corporations in the community and engaging them through volunteer opportunities and shared-value partnerships
  • Identifying and applying to granting opportunities that align with A Safe Place’s funding needs
  • Designing and managing special events with a focus on optimizing resources to build community awareness, engagement, and financial support
  • Maintaining excellent donor records during all stages of the donor cycle

Your skills and qualifications:

  • 3-5 years relevant experience with personally soliciting and securing donations from individuals, foundations, and corporations
  • Experience managing volunteer-led events is a strong asset
  • Exceptional presentation, communication, and writing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills with a demonstrated ability to interact with people sensitively, diplomatically, and professionally
  • A commitment to and alignment with the mission, vision, and values of A Safe Place (required)
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities on tight deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong knowledge of donor management systems and software
  • A university/college degree and/or training in fundraising and non-profit management
  • A clear criminal record check including vulnerable sector search and intervention record check every three years and a valid driver’s license (required)

The position is a full-time, permanent role which is based primarily on-site with the opportunity for remote work 1-2 days/week. Upon occasion, the candidate will be required to work outside regular business hours with lieu time provided.

Salary Range: $70,000 – $75,000
