Volunteer Program

A Safe Place

Contribute to Our Cause

Our volunteer program helps prepare individuals who are willing to contribute their time in the shelter and/or in our community fundraising events. Volunteers are trained and supported in their endeavors by our staff.

Volunteer Training

Our volunteer training includes workshops on family violence that help raise volunteers’ awareness on this topic and increase volunteers’ knowledge on the issue. Our workshops assist volunteers in understanding women affected by family violence and prepare them to serve women better.

Areas to Volunteer

Our volunteers may choose the area that they would like to work in:

  • In the shelter – helping with meal preparation.
  • Outside the shelter – in fundraising or special events.

Fundraising Events

Under the direction of the Volunteer and Special Events Coordinator, A Safe Place holds a variety of significant fundraisers. These events are staffed by a dedicated team of volunteers who contribute to their success.

Our fundraising events, along with many community spearheaded events, include the following:

Tickets are available for $2.50 at various locations including Greenland Garden Center, Sherwood Park Mall, & Sherwood Park and Fort Saskatchewan Trade Fairs. Please see our Facebook page for current locations of ticket sales.
